warby parker

on the hunt for wedding glasses

thanks to ashley l for reminding me about warby parker

cute glasses, with prescription for under $100, AND they donate a pair for every pair sold...oh, yes.

but wait, there's more...in addition to having a virtual try-on feature they also have a home try on option (5 frames shipped to your house so you can try them on and see how they actually look on you, return them within 5 days and order the pair (or pairs) you liked best!

what do you guys think of these???

sneak a peek....mariana and bobby's save the dates

a little behind the scenes of the printing process for mariana and bobby's save the dates.
i designed a crest for each of them that combines some of their favorite things...jezebel the pup counts for both of them :) i printed them on the a vandercook sp-15 at the arm in brooklyn. it was challenging since it was my first 3 color print...but super worth it and i learned alot...excited to do the invites and any other details for the wedding!  (forgive the grainy i-phone photos-better ones to come later, plus it makes it more behind the scene-like) oh and i definitely couldn't have done this without Andy's help!

paint sample banner!

i stumbled upon this diy project from this awesome blog, julia's poppies design, which you should all check out...she seems like a cool lady with tons of great projects up her sleeves!

here's how i went about it...

materials:
exacto knife
paint sample cards
yarn
hot glue gun
sharpie

first i cut out all my pendants, all different shapes and sizes...different directions too!

once i cut out a million of them, i started hot gluing them

glue them around 1/4 down so that the yarn doesn't show

oh, i should mention that you can cut your yarn to whatever length you desire, i also marked around a foot or so from each end so that i would have some room to let the yard dangle, but that is optional as well!

i glue them an inch or so apart, as with all of the project, it's not an exact science (though feel free to make it so if you choose)

the glue dries quickly, which is nice and helps make this such an easy project! i had a lot of fun doing it!  who doesn't love an easy, relatively fast and definitely cheap project!?!

p.s. has anyone else seen this boxed water?

leanne marshall

remember her? season 5 of project runway winner, duh! ( i think that this is actually the last season of the show that i watched, sigh). i happily stumbled upon her etsy shop earlier this week, love love love!

the name of this dress? she named it Betty White because it reminded her of Betty's hair!

her etsy shop is mostly her samples, so they are on the small side, but they are marked down. all pictures came from said etsy shop, check it out here.

also check out her blog and website

mood boards

yay wedding! today i want to share these mood boards stef and i put together. we've been searching for inspiration high and low, and i think this really helps put shape to how i want my special day to look.

looking for the links? i have to admit in all of the searching we did we did not keep the best track of where we pulled these pictures from, tsk tsk i know! i can tell you that we have been frequenting the following blogs and that most of these pictures can most likely be traced to at least one of them...

The Avett Brothers - January Wedding (Live on The Interface)

i love this song so much it makes it ALMOST makes me want to get married in january...

p.s. every time i listen to "i and love and you" i think of you, stef. and i realize that may sound creepy, but listen to it, you'll see why...but don't read too deep, my reference is obvious :)

project

project: find a frame to turn into our save-the-date photo prop

outcome: success!!!

i went to a few thrift stores and found a frame for $3.99, ran to my local ace hardware for some painters tape and chalkboard paint ($1.29 and $5.49, respectively), and used a paper bag from home. this was quick, easy and overall mess-free!

finally

i have finally started to plan my wedding! a few little bumps and breakdowns on figuring out what i wanted (buy a house or not, huge wedding or not, so on an so forth) but now i am ready to move things forward...full speed ahead! my sweet friends stef and jen threw bobby and i an engagement party (hopefully we'll have that post ready in the next few days) and it was the perfect start to everything. so, now i have been thinking about engagement/save-the date photos...non-stop! i have my photographer, the ever-so handy ben brian (husband of jen) so now i just need my theme. these are just a few of the pictures i've been drawn to for inspiration...

i'm thinking of us in the woods holding something like one of these frames, or having multiple frames, or having the frames hung on a tree...thoughts anyone???

ugh

ugh originally uploaded by nardell

i think my favorite word these days has become "ugh". it seems to always sum up the way i feel, it's nice...it can go either way. "UGH" can be exasperated, or it could be a defeated "ugh", or "Ugh" could be an overwhelmed expression. oh, just thought of another use; "ugh?" can express confusion, or pondering. This form is similar to "um", but not quite the same ("um" is more of a stalling technique). "ugh" can be selfish, disgusted or apathetic. i hope to move past this "ugh" stage soon, i am ready for action. the reason for this recent bout of blah is, interestingly enough, my wedding. but that will have to be a different post for a different day...
