and we're back! with a big congrats to mariana and bobby who are officially wed! it was an amazing weekend and i can't wait for mare to share all the great images. i am so happy i got to be a part of it. we will slowly be getting back to regular blogging schedule just in time to start planning my fast approaching wedding :) hopefully we will get around to some of the changes and projects we've been talking about too.

i've been absent this last week while saying goodbye to my grandfather. my grandmother passed a couple years ago. i hope you don't mind if i share these amazing photos of them in their younger days. they look like movie stars to me. So in love and full of style. they made adventures out of the everyday. it inspires me and seem to fit with what we do here. it struck me this past week that when someone leaves us we spend time looking back at their life and often you find through old photos like these you meet them again...a different them but still there they are with so much left to tell. so for me it's like discovering my grandfather all over again. it's a beautiful thing.

i feel like i'm going crazy, but apparently that's normal for someone roughly a month away from getting married (eeeeeeeeee!). with all that i have to do i have grossly neglected the blog, my apologies! i will try to keep posting, but they might just be pretty pictures or things i want, or things that distract me from picking out table linens and such. sure, that may sound not too different from what i already do, but i wanted to explain why the posts may seem exceptionally random. i have so many posts in the works for after the wedding...diy projects and pictures galore, as well as "assembled goods"! stay tuned, it will be awesome!

....not turning 30 this year and instead go back to my early twenties and go back to a language school. specifically EF Language Schools...these dreamy films with crazy gorgeous type have me itching to travel.
in full disclosure i was a language major in undergrad and did have the opportunity to study abroad...but these short films, a collaboration between a collaboration between Gustav Johansson, Niklas Johansson, Albin Holmqvist and David Camp for EF Language Schools, makes me want to go back in time. i am pretty sure my adventures were not nearly as stunning and did not involve such beautiful type.

I had the opportunity to go to Madrid for 24hours a few years ago, such a beautiful city. My sweet dad and brother let me drag them to The Prado Museum and The Reina Sofia Museum. Getting to see Guernica was breathtaking (it is so massive), and there was even a small Dali exhibit, but what really made the biggest impression on me was this painting.

i found her so striking, the painting is so dark and yet so vivid.

i spotted this painting on design for mankind a few months ago and i found the two works so similar. there is something about both of them that makes me just stare at them.

sorry for the late post. it's also going to be a short one. i have been super busy with work (re-opening the i manage) and with the holiday pretty much here, things are crazy! here are a few poorly taken pictures of what i've been up to...

katie and i made these little stocking for everyone at the store...i love them all!

we also made this clever sign, haha

and this year i didn't even have to spend tons of money on wrapping paper (guilty pleasure), i used butcher block and twine i've had for awhile...and finally tried making a potato stamp!

and lastly, you might remember my post on which holiday drink to make? i decided on the bourbon and blood orange, instead of using mint i went with rosemary and it was wonderful!

i hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and is able to spend time with the people you love!

another dream job would be curating a shop full of my favorite finds. we stumbled on the cool hunting for gap pop up shop on our walk down 5th ave. it was full of locally sourced goods and i spotted lots of my favorites. great stop for last minute shopping.

on my long list of dream jobs is designing store windows. the bergdorf windows are famous. andy and i had a great time walking through central park and down 5th ave. to look at all the lights and windows. these blew me away. they were full of cut paper sculptures and amazing details. i'd like my very own cut paper version of my pup penny. sorry for the glare.

the best part of this particular holiday for me is how it reminds me to check in and really focus on what matters. i am reminded of how lucky i am because my life is overflowing with people who care about me. it helps me to forget whatever temporary struggles are happening and to focus on the small joys. i especially feel thankful this year for my new fiance andy. we got engaged this past weekend and i feel over the moon about spending the rest of my life with him. thankfulness is simple when you focus on all the love.

i collect spoons. i took over my mothers collection that she had started in her early 20's. we have a lot, her being a flight attendant probably helped. now they are harder to come by. the quality is gone and the diversity is lacking, but i still like looking for them. i like that my friends have helped add to the collection as well. i like collecting spoons. i love my mom.

here's the story...in 2000 Mark Hogancamp was severely beaten and left with brain damage, as a way of rehabilitating himself (and coping with what happened) he created a 1/6th scale World War II-era town in his backyard. A few years later he started taking pictures...

mustard yellow and polka dots...how could you go wrong...i'd probably wear this scarf with jeans, t-shirt, cardigan, and flats most days. But this is what i'd like to imagine i would wear if i wasn't resorting to my stand-by uniform...looks comfy and cute. have a great weekend!!!

tuesday was an off day, one of those days where you find yourself in a bad mood that you can't seem to shake or even figure it why.  and even more frustrating...that funk/lost/upset yet indifferent feeling is still trying to hang around today as well.  perhaps that is why i was drawn to these two artists...

one of our fave shops and galleries in atlanta, youngblood, featured our little blog on theirs...we appreciate the love...visit their shop either in person or online. it's full of cute stuff! i think we stop by there every time i am in atlanta. oh and if you are in atlanta this weekend go see their day of the dead show on saturday night!
